With Memorial Day weekend comes music in Downtown Indiana, as the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off tonight.

This marks the tenth year for the annual music celebration in Indiana, and while the show was briefly stopped for Covid-19 in 2020, the show continued on in a modified, social-distanced format, the music has continued stronger than ever.

Tonight is the kickoff concert at the Indiana Theater, with Emmy-nominated trumpeter and singer Benny Benack III being the headliner for tonight. David Ferguson with the festival said that Benack is continuing a music legacy in his family.

Tonight’s concert does require a ticket purchase, and tickets are on sale at the Indiana Theater or through the festival website.

Tomorrow’s performances at IRMC Park are free for the whole day, with music starting at 11:00 with the Indiana Junior High Jazz Band. The final concert on the official schedule is at 7:30 with John Németh, a blues and soul harmonicist and singer from Memphis. After the main stage entertainment, after-hours performances are scheduled for 9:00 PM at Josephine’s.
