McDonald will also be hosting two workshops over the weekend. The Sketch from Improv Workshop on Aug. 24 (10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) will guide students in the art of turning improvisational scenes into polished comedy sketches.

“With Kevin McDonald’s expertise, you’ll learn how to refine characters, build comedic momentum, and craft hilarious storylines. In the second half of this class, students will put their new-found knowledge to the test as they work independently to shape their own improv scenes into fully-fledged comedy sketches.”

In the One-Line Premise Workshop on Aug. 25 (10:30-2:30 p.m.), students will dive into comedy writing, focusing on crafting sketches from one-line premises that they bring into the workshop. This workshop is a writing workshop — students will not be improvising or performing.

“With Kevin McDonald’s expert guidance, students will learn how to structure scenes, develop comedic characters, and build engaging storylines,” said the TIC statement.

The workshops are for those 18 and older. Tickets are $150 and are also available at
