MASSANUTTEN, Va. (WHSV) – The Massanutten Resort held its 25th annual Summer Jam Festival. Attendees enjoyed live music from three bands, food and drinks from local and regional vendors and activities for kids of all ages.

The Summer Jam is more than just a fun event; it’s the biggest fundraiser for the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA.

“The fundraiser benefits the animals in the care of the SPCA. This year’s been a record-breaking year for the number of dog intakes,” said Huck Nawaz, executive director for the RHSPCA. “They’ve been through the roof. We always talk about cats — and this year the adult dogs, especially, have been coming in droves.”

Nawaz was pleased with the event’s turnout.

“So this year it seems to be busier than it was last year,” Nawaz said. “We’ve got a little over 3,000 people here or expected to be here with the number of tickets sold, so it’s been a great turnout.”

Attendees enjoyed themselves while contributing to the care and protection of animals.

“We received a very good number of donations today,” Nazaz said. “Of course, proceeds from the ticket sales and other revenue from the event goes back to the SPCA as well. All profits do”
